I bought a house in Newcastle and had the usual Pest and Building Inspections done under the guidance of the Real Estate Agent I had been dealing with. Everything seemed great as it had been recently renovated so I went ahead with the purchase.
Around 6 months later, I noticed a few things didn’t seem right. There were cracks appearing in the newly painted exterior. A few tiles fell off a wall in one of the bathrooms. One particular window was becoming harder to open/close.
Not sure what was happening, I asked a few friends what they thought and they recommended Mal Wright to come and have a look.
Mal was available to take a look that week and brought his Thermal Imaging Camera and Moisture meter with him. He spent around an hour going over the house, listening to my concerns and writing things down. After he was done he quickly explained what was wrong.
When I received my report the next day, I was able to sit down in my own time and go over it carefully. Mal had explained everything and given me ideas on how to fix the problems (moisture issues). I believe that the previous owners covered up the issues by renovating and the real estate didn’t help by getting in their own inspector either.
So glad I had Mal come out, but it might have been better if I’d had him do the original inspections. It could have saved me some money in the long run.
