I had been undecided as to whether I wanted to pay the extra money to get a Pest and Building Inspection done. I didn’t think it was really necessary. The house looked fine?!?
My Conveyancer had recommended Mal (and a couple of other inspectors) when I’d had an appointment and I’d looked at each online. Mal’s website was impressive – lots of information & good reviews. I still wasn’t 100% convinced but when my conveyancer pushed a bit more, I had to book one.
I had a week to get it done due to my cooling off period ending. Mal had it booked in and completed within a couple of days. He actually called me from the house on the day he was doing my inspection to have a chat to me. Turned out he’d found termite damage – but luckily no live ones. It was still going to be a process to get another inspection to check for further damage inside the walls and then repair the damage. It certainly gave me something to think about that day.
I guess the moral to this is – ALWAYS get a Pest and Building Inspection done. If I hadn’t done it, I’d be living in a house that quite possibly could be falling down around my ears.
Mal’s reports helped us negotiate with the vendors with price and repairs, so we are very grateful.
