We were supplied with Pest and Building Reports for a property by the Agent that was selling it in Maitland. We read through it and it all seemed ok, but I just didn’t like the fact that the Real Estate had used someone they recommended. Were they reputable? Or did they just write up a report so the house would sell? I asked a couple of friends who they used and they said Mal Wright was the best, so I gave him a call to see what he thought.
Upon finding out that the reports would not be legally binding if anything was wrong because they weren’t in our names, I booked Mal in to do inspections and produce new reports.
The reports were like chalk and cheese. Mal had picked up on a lot more problems with the house than the original reports. It was still a great house, though. It just needed a bit more work to bring it up to where we would like it.
We spoke with the Real Estate and they said the vendors were open to offers, which was great.
So in the end, we are more than happy with our inspector, Mal, and the reports he provided us. We will be passing on his details on to everyone.
